WKA British Thaiboxing Open Junior Championships 2009

The British open junior Thai and Kickboxing Championships will be held in Hardy Spicer’s social Club Egerton Road, Erdington, and Birmingham on 21st march 2009(Thai Boxing) and 22nd march 2009 (Kickboxing).

Entry is £15 or £12 if pre booked.

Weigh in on both days will be at 10.30am.

-25, 25-30, 30-35, 35-40, 40-45, 45+

12-14

-35, 35-40, 40-45, 45-50, 50-55, 55-60, 60+

15-17

-45, 45-50, 50-55, 55-60, 60-65, 65-70,70-75,75-80,80+   

Please note- 6-8 year olds are not allowed to participate at the world championships in October. If they turn 9 before the world championships they can move up to one of the 9-11 group if there is a place available.

if somebody entered age 17 and won, but by the time the Championships in October they had turned 18 they will still be offered a place in the world championships but in the adult categories. If they move out of the age group they will have to move up the higher age group.

Please note head contact is not permitted for fighters under 15 years of age.

Thai Boxing Rules

Eliminators 3x1.5 minutes
Finals 3x2 minutes

Rules
* No punching or kicking to head  (under 15yrs)
* Clinch will be limited if not good work to the body with knees.
* No hip throws / throws do not count for points
* No elbows
* Catch the leg (2 step rule. When leg is caught must be only for 2 step and must follow with technique or let leg go)
* Same rules as adults except for above

Equipment
* Head guards
* 10oz gloves
* Body shield (boys and girls)
* Gum shields
* Shin and instep pads
* Groin guard (boys and girls)
* Shorts

Over 15-17yrs light head contact. Weight categories will be added if needed.
